+1 for the Senn e935. We usually switch out the house (vocal) mics with these, and invariably the sound man is blown away by the difference. Happens with all sorts - 58's, ATs, etc. Definitely more gain before feedback, and crystal clear.

Not to beat a horse I've killed and thus dead: volume before feedback is much more a function of monitor placement than mics (assuming mic is at least SM58 quality).

Depending on the situation I use one of three mics.
Crown CM-200 Condenser
Audix OM-6 It suits my voice but you have to stay close to the screen.
Shure SM 58 I've had this beast since the '70's and it will not die.

I'd like to try the Tele M-80 and the lower end EV N/D767.

I sat down with an audio professional friend to A/B a couple of Audix mics he had for sale: OM-5 vs. OM-6.

We both agreed the OM-5 suited my voice much better than the 6, and I've relied on it for almost every gig for the last 2-3 years.

But the other night I used a Shure Beta 57A (with a phenomenal house system and great engineer) and was quite favorably impressed. Slightly more forgiving pickup pattern.

FWIW, I see Dead and Company are using the new Shure KSM 8's.

I used to have a KSM 9. It was a fine microphone. Expensive, but very good sounding.

I've tried all sorts in my band and in my studio, and for my voice, the Heil PR22 is just killing it: https://www.heilsound.com/pro/microphones/pr-22

I used a Senheiser e945 for the first time the other night with my band at a performance at The Port Theatre in Cornwall, Ontario. Amazing mic! I love it! I usually use a Shure beta 58, but recently bought an Audix OM7, which in itself is a great performer. In fact, I started with the Audix, it during sound check, the soundman asked if I would switch to the e945 for him. I obliged, and I was blown away! So, I sang great all night, and the sound guy/owner gifted me the mic after the show. He said we were really great, and he was inspired by the performance. Very nice guy, but maybe a few too many beers. Lol. Anyways, I am so happy I found this mic by accident, and now own one.
All's well that sounds well.
